Notes: This Echinopsis hybrid is named after the military nobility of Japan. The Samurai lived by a code of rules known as bushidô. While the samurai numbered less than 10% of Japan's population, their teachings can still be found today in both everyday life and in modern Japanese martial arts. Besides mastering many forms of art, Samurai were considered highly educated as some where as skillful with a sword as they were with a pen. Emperor Meiji abolished the Samurai class during the reformation in the 1860s and instead replaced it with a modern style conscription military.
